The Spartan Combo Brush Combo 50/50 brush combines Grit (Silicon Carbide) and PBT (Poly Butylene) bristles in a 50/50 ratio for the best of both worlds. Silicon Carbide (The same material used on Street Sweepers) does not Rust like stainless steel and does not Poke like stainless steel. The Thicker, Larger, and longer-lasting Bristles than Stainless Steel make it ideal for rougher surfaced pools such as Pebble Tech and Diamond brite. It is safe to use on new plaster pools, unlike stainless steel. The bristles float and do not sink like stainless steel making it easy to skim if bristles become dislodged. The bristles help treat black algae without scratching pool surfaces, unlike stainless steel. PBT is stronger, thicker, and harder than the standard PP bristles used in the industry which allows for more efficient brushing. PBT does not become brittle and deteriorate quickly like PP. PBT is heat and cold-resistant when compared to PP (a weather-sensitive material.

In the instance where bristles may become detached from the brush during cleaning, silicon carbide bristles have the unique feature of floating to the surface for easy skimming. Most grit brushes do not have this feature available and the bristles that become dislodged sink to the bottom of the pool making them hard to clean.
